1. What Is the Global Youth Leadership Program (GYLP)?

The Global Youth Leadership Program (GYLP) is a brand activity of WIC international organization, which was launched by WIC in 2023. It aims to regularly select outstanding young people in the global Internet field, closely follow the frontier trends of Internet technology, industry and governance, carry out a series of youth activities around Forum, Training, and Research, and build an international exchange and cooperation platform for young people to learn from each other.

2. What Opportunities Can the Selected Candidates Get?

1) To attend the 2024 WIC Wuzhen as guests, to speak at the youth forum at the 2024 WIC Wuzhen Summit and to apply for round-trip air tickets, complimentary catering and accommodation, and local transportation during the Summit, which are provided by the organizers of the Wuzhen Summit.

2) To be invited to participate in a series of WIC GYLP activities, such as the training and research activities in Zhejiang and the related WIC capacity building projects.

3) To be invited to participate in other forum activities of WIC. For example, WIC had invited the first batch of selected candidates and some outstanding nominated candidates to participate in the thematic forum on computing power network held in Barcelona, Spain, and the Digital Silk Road Development Forum held in Xi'an, China. For the above events, WIC had provided the invited youth representatives with relevant entry tickets and round-trip air tickets to China.

3. What Are the GYLP Selection Criteria?

1) Embrace the vision of the WIC international organization and actively spread the concept of building a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

2) Under the age of 45 by December 31, 2024.

3) Have made achievements in the fields of policy, research, business or public welfare related to the Internet and information and communication technology (ICT).

4) Have a global vision, diversified thinking ability across fields and excellent public speaking and presentation skills.

4. What Should Be Included in the Application Video?

The application video is used to introduce and showcase the applicant, and there are no specific requirements on the content. We recommend that the applicants briefly introduce themselves, highlight their personal achievements in policy, research, business or public welfare related to the Internet and ICTs and share their experiences or views on topics such as “digital empowerment for youth development”.

The video should be in Chinese or English and no longer than 3 minutes in length. Applicants are requested to appear in person in the video, with clear sound and picture.

5. How to Apply?

Please complete the application through the WIC GYLP online application system (https://awards.wicinternet.org/en) by 17: 00 June 26, 2024 (GMT +8). Please read the Application Guidance in the application system.

6. How Many Letters of Recommendation Does an Applicant Need to Provide?

An applicant must submit at least one and at most three references. The number of letters of recommendation is not necessarily related to whether you are selected or not. You can download the template of the Recommendation Form here (Recommendation Form in Chinese, Recommendation Form in English).

7. What Is the Selection Process? When Will Applicants Be Informed of the Results?

After the application deadline, WIC will organize the qualification, preliminary and final reviews. Applicants will be able to see the results in the application system by early September this year at the latest.

8. Who Has a Better Chance of Being Selected?

We welcome all eligible young people to apply.

9. What Else Are the Selected Candidates Required to Do?

They are required to attend the 2024 WIC Wuzhen Summit in person and commit to participate in the relevant activities organized by WIC and contribute to the development of WIC's youth community.
