The World Internet Conference (WIC) Awards for Pioneering Science and Technology is an international technology award in the field of the internet rewarding the most cutting-edge global internet technological achievements of the year and advocating for international exchange and cooperation in internet technology. It has been upgraded from WIC's Release Ceremony for World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements, which had been held for seven consecutive years.

The award aims to reward the most advanced global internet technological achievements of the year and promote international exchange and cooperation in internet technology. Each year, a panel of authoritative experts selects 15 to 20 leading achievements to release during the WIC Wuzhen Summit, and around 60 shortlisted achievements are included in the Charm of Science and Technology collection.

We are launching an open call for 2024 WIC Awards for Pioneering Science and Technology to government departments, international organizations, social groups, research institutions, colleges and universities, technology communities, companies, and innovation teams.

What will you get?

If your submitted projects are awarded the WIC Awards for Pioneering Science and Technology

1. Awardees will be invited to participate in the 2024 WIC Wuzhen Summit, engaging in in-depth exchanges with high-level government representatives, experts, and representatives of leading internet companies from around the world.

2. Awardees will be invited to attend the award ceremony, where they will present and showcase their projects to the audience and receive a trophy, while project contributors will receive an honorary certificate.

3. The award ceremony will be broadcast live on the China Central Television, and awardees will have the opportunity to receive an exclusive interview by the WIC. Relevant materials related to the awarded projects will be displayed in multiple languages and covered by over a hundred media outlets, bringing widespread publicity to the projects.

4. Awarded projects materials will be included in the Charm of Science and Technology collection.

If your submitted projects are shortliested for inclusion in the annual Charm of Science and Technology collection

1. The shortlisted projects materials will be included in the Charm of Science and Technology collection.

2. Representatives of the shortlisted projects have the opportunity to be invited to participate in the 2024 WIC Wuzhen Summit.

Scope of Collection

You can submit your project in the following three categories: Basic Research, Key Technology, Engineering Research and Development

How to Submit

Please submit your materials online at https://awards.wicinternet.org/ before 24:00 on June 20, 2024, Beijing time.

One individual can submit multiple projects, but each project can only be submitted in one category. The online platform is the only channel for the submission.

Selection Process

Phase One: Submission (from now until June, 2024)

Please submit materials online within the specified time limit.

Phase Two: Review (July to August, 2024)

Authoritative experts in the global internet field will review the submitted projects  and select the awarded projects and the shortlisted projects to be included in the Charm of Science and Technology collection.

Phase Three: Preparation for Release (August to before the WIC Wuzhen Summit)

We will notify the owners of the selected projects to provide the audio, video, and graphic materials for the release. Representatives of the awarded projects will also need to do some preparatory work for the award ceremony.

Phase Four: Award Ceremony (during the WIC Wuzhen Summit in 2024)

The organizers will hold an award ceremony during the 2024 WIC Wuzhen Summit to announce the awarded projects. Representatives of awarded projects will be invited to attend the summit, and representatives of the shortlisted projects included in the Charm of Science and Technology collection will have the opportunity to be invited to participate in the summit.
